White Fillings
Restore damaged teeth with white, tooth coloured fillings
White or tooth coloured fillings provide a healthier more natural alternative to traditional silver or amalgam fillings. They also allow for a minimally invasive restoration meaning more of your natural tooth can be preserved.
Natural Tooth Coloured Fillings
A replacement for Amalgam fillings?
White fillings are now offered as a healthier, more attractive alternative to the traditional metal, amalgam filling and a treatment that we offer at Sidcup Hill Dental Care.
Our aim is always to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible and with white fillings requiring a less invasive restoration, we recommend the treatment as both a cosmetic and healthier treatment to amalgam fillings.

What are the benefits of white fillings?
The main benefit of white fillings is that, as your dentist, we have a large choice of tooth-coloured shades to choose from. Selecting the shade that is closest to your own teeth in colour, we can design your white filling to match your own teeth in shape and colour resulting in it being practically invisible to the eye.
White fillings also require a less invasive restoration when filling the hole left by decay in your tooth. This means that less of your healthy tooth tissue would need to be removed with a white filling.
As your local Sidcup Dentist, we believe in providing high quality dental care for your long term benefit. We therefore recommend white fillings as a much more natural-looking and healthier alternative to amalgam fillings.
White fillings v silver (amalgam) fillings?
Traditional amalgam fillings contain a mixture of silver, tin, copper and mercury making them strong, durable and ideal for the back teeth that are less visible.
A white filling starts as a softer material that is easier for dentists to shape and mould, making it more effective for repairing chipped or decayed teeth in visible areas. Once shaped, a blue light is used to harden the filling and fix it into its final form.
When would I require white fillings?
For teeth that are cracked or chipped, tooth-coloured fillings may be used to build up the tooth and restore its look and feel. Closing gaps, reshaping uneven or short teeth and filling cavities caused by tooth decay may also be treated.
